Personnel file — the operative behind the recreations.
// INTERCEPTED TRANSMISSION“I recreated the MGS2 intro — frame by frame — in Unreal Engine 5. It took two years.”
Jack, known online as jackthelightning, is an Italian CGI and 3D artist specializing in photorealistic cinematic recreations of Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid series using Unreal Engine 5. Self-taught in real-time 3D production, he has spent years mastering the complete UE5 pipeline — MetaHuman character creation, facial lipsync, global illumination, Nanite geometry, and VCAM workflow.
His most ambitious work is a full recreation of the iconic Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty opening sequence — a project spanning two years of production. Every detail, from Solid Snake's rain-soaked infiltration to the environmental lighting that defined a generation of gaming, was rebuilt from scratch inside Unreal Engine 5. The final video accumulated over 47,000 views on YouTube and prompted coverage from GamesRadar, Creative Bloq, DSO Gaming, CBR, and GGRecon.
Beyond MGS2, Jack has recreated environments and cinematics from across the entire Metal Gear saga: the iconic heliport of Shadow Moses from Metal Gear Solid 1 (his most-viewed video at 171,000+ YouTube views), the jungle environments of MGS3: Snake Eater, and the emotional finale sequences of Metal Gear Solid 4. His work collectively has reached over 1.2 million views across YouTube and Instagram.
